A new hub to help communities develop affordable homes across North Yorkshire and East Riding has been launched today (March 5).

The REACH Community Led Housing Hub will help communities develop and manage projects. The Hub provides information and advice in one place to help groups get started and to manage their projects. An Advisors Panel will provide groups with access to firms with expertise in community development, architecture, planning, surveying, law and accountancy to help bring their plans to fruition.

Those interested in signing up to the Advisors Panel are asked to complete a simple questionnaire that will help communities to decide who to appoint.  Advisers will be expected to have some knowledge of working with communities and/or housing projects and be suitably qualified and experienced.  Information can be accessed at

York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Strategic Housing Partnership

Established in 2007, the York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Strategic Housing Partnership brings together the local authorities of York, North Yorkshire and East Riding. North Yorkshire includes Craven, Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough, Selby and Council North Yorkshire County Councils, with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities. We work closely to deliver our housing priorities through our joint housing strategy. These Authorities form the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area.

The partnership's roles include identifying and responding to key housing issues, agreeing and delivering strategic housing investment priorities, undertaking sub regional research and encouraging innovative sub regional working. It aims to increase the supply of high quality market and affordable homes, make better use of existing stock and facilitate more accessible housing services and choice.

Day to day support and administration is provided by a Housing Strategy Manager. Strategic and technical support comes from the Chief Housing Officers Group and stakeholder involvement via the Housing Forum. The partnership works closely with key stakeholders including house builders, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Housing Associations, landowners, planning officers, parish councils, the Northern Network of Travellers and the National Landlords Association.
