Snainton affordable housing plans

If you live in the parishes of Snainton and Brompton by Sawdon we would like to know what you think about plans for a new affordable housing development in Snainton.

We’re working with Broadacres Housing Association and the local parish councils to bring you two drop-in events where you will be able to view plans and information about the proposed development.

The events will take place from 1pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday 8 September at Brompton Village Hall and Friday 10 September at Snainton Village Hall.

The plans were developed after a housing needs survey carried out in January this year showed two and three bedroom homes for rent and low cost home ownership would help to meet local need for affordable homes.

If the proposed development gets support, work to progress to construction can begin.

People in need of an affordable home who have a strong local connection to Snainton and Brompton by Sawdon parishes would be given priority for the houses.

Affordable homes available to rent in Staithes

We’re inviting expressions of interest in twelve new affordable homes for rent being built Karbon Homes in Staithes.

Due for completion in December, the development will consist of four three-bedroom houses,  two two-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom bungalows and four one-bedroom flats. If you have a local connection to Hinderwell parish and are struggling to find a home that you can afford in the area, this could be your opportunity to secure a future in the place you love.

If you would like to rent one of these exciting new properties, you need to register your interest in advance of the wider marketing activity on North Yorkshire Home Choice, which will start in October.

You can do this at one of the following drop-in events we’re holding next month with Hinderwell Parish Council and Karbon Homes’ Yorkshire division, York Housing Association:

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1pm to 6pm, St Hilda’s Old School, Hinderwell
  • Thursday 16 September, 1pm to 6.30pm, Staithes Village Memorial Hall

You must bring proof of your home address history for the last five years and your National Insurance number to be able to complete a registration form.

If you are unable to attend the events, email our rural housing enabler, Colin Huby, or call 01723 232538.
